Electric Pear Productions
As the Literary Director for Electric Pear Productions (EPP), I supported the nonprofit’s mission to create cross-genre and cross-border collaborative projects for the stage through dramaturgy, script management, and innovative content creation.
Dramaturgy
I nurture plays through all steps of development, from pitch to production.
EXAMPLE: Collaborating with playwrights on new works, I offered editorial feedback and workshop opportunities throughout the development process. In production, I provided contextual research and images for the creatives that illuminated the world of the play; historical information and articles on time and place; and analysis of literary and cultural references within the play.
Script Coverage
I provide snapshot summaries and analyses for plays, screenplays, and manuscripts to aid a company's production and acquisition decisions.
EXAMPLE: For EPP, I read and evaluated all submissions, writing concise and informative script reports that included general info about the play and author; a log line; summary; comments; and an overall rating or impression of the piece for consideration within the company’s season or for further development opportunities.
Blogging
I create engaging + compelling editorial content to build awareness for companies.
EXAMPLE: I conceived + wrote for The Core — a blog ranging from editorial commentary to theater reviews — to guide more traffic to the production company’s website, + to engage more with the art itself as well as the artistic community.
